At Rest and At Play

Occasionally, the dogs like to take their positions on the stairs.  This is great, unless you need to go up or down the stairs. :)  Walking over the dogs can be dangerous, if they decide to stand up suddenly so I generally discourage them from getting too comfortable on the steps. 

Baron and Anka are very close to each other.  We were required to adopt them together because they love each other so much.  Here they are wrestling, which is something they really enjoy!

New Pictures

The dogs were groomed last week.  The groomer bathed them in pumpkin scented shampoo, doused them in pumpkin spice perfume, and put Halloween bandanas on them.  Even though these dogs are far from the doggie spa type, they smelled and looked so good!! I was sorry when the smell wore off and was replaced with their usual dog smell. :)  I have to bathe them every week to keep them smelling fresh.  Baron and Anka went to the vet this week and spent two nights there.  They had to get their updated shots anyway and we were heading out to the mountains for a mini-trip.  Smokie was lucky enough to come with us.  She loves to ride in the car and liked having us all to herself!  Click the pictures to enlarge. Giant Schnauzer Boarding

We recently went on a trip and had to put the dogs in a kennel.  We hate leaving them even for a short time.  We've only had them for a year and they came from a rescue where they had stayed for about six weeks.  It's probably stressful for them to be away from home and they must wonder what is going on and if we're coming back.

A brand new vet opened up near our area so we decided to give their kennel a try.  Here are some pictures of their arrival.  When we left, they didn't get upset at all and when we picked them up, they seemed to have fared well.  Here are some pictures.

After we dropped off Baron and Anka at the kennel, Smokie helped me drive to Grandma's house where she stayed while we were gone.  I have to watch her, she's a little speed demon. :)

Security

Our Giant Schnauzers are the best security system I could hope for.  If they aren't outside or patrolling the house, they are parked in front of my big office window watching every car and person that goes by.  Here are some pictures of them on guard duty.

Haircuts!

We got our haircuts yesterday.  It was a long day, but we feel a lot cooler now.  Here are some pictures of us riding in the car on the way home and in front of the house.  Baron has the blue collar and Anka has the red collar.

New Treats and Collars

When Papa came home today, he brought us some new treats.  We like him because he doesn't believe in "just one".  He usually gives us way too many treats.

After we got our fill of treats, he brought out the new collars that he bought us.  Here are some pictures!

Lazy Saturday Afternoon

This morning Papa woke us up early and decided to take us for a run.  We ran and ran.  When we got back, we had our breakfast and drank lots of water.  Mom hates it when we walk around the house with our beards full of water, but we think it's pretty fun.  We especially like to shake our heads really fast to make the water fly out of our beards and onto the walls!  

When we get to go for long runs, we get tired and usually take it easy for a while.  Here's a picture of us sleeping on the floor in Mom's office.  We have nice dog beds, but we usually like to sleep in the same room with somebody.

Bath Time

We like to get baths.  Mom gives us a bath every week because we like to get good and dirty.  When it's bath time Mom calls for us and we come running.  The one who doesn't go first waits outside the door of the bathroom whining to get in.  

When we get into the tub, Mom picks up our front legs and puts them in the tub.  Then she has to pick up our back legs and get the rest of us in.  Baron is 100 pounds and Anka is 85 so this is hard work for Mom.

When she turns on the water, we usually like to drink right from the sprayer for a long time.  It's the best part of the bath!

After we're squeaky clean, we get blow dried and brushed.  We aren't too happy with that part.  Here's some pictures of us getting our bath tonight.
